RESONANT BALLOON CHAIR
I picked up the point in Gilles Lipovetsky’s book, L’ère du vide – Essais sur l’individualisme contemporain: "Through the power of sound, the world has also been neutralized, so people have closed themselves up and indulged and felt themselves in the rhythm of digital sound. Since then, people need to be intoxicated with music to forget the external reality and live the sound and noise in the middle became ‘noise’.”
Then, I started to find the form of making works. The Resonant Balloon Chair uses a non-technical form to guide the audience to the sound of the real world. Basing on the principle of cavity resonance of conch, the sound of air flow that is amplified by the resonator on the chair replaces the digital audio equipment.
